"What Does Thriving Look Like?"

"I'm not afraid of storms, for
I'm learning to sail my ship."

~ Louisa May Alcott
***

A Day of Thriving

I wake up and realize that I have slept well
All through the night
No nightmares

Upon awakening, I feel refreshed
I am flooded with insights and optimism
I notice the beauty of the sunrise

I get downstairs for a healthy breakfast
I remember to take my vitamins
I get lots of fresh air, exercise, and time out in nature

I don't isolate
I go out and greet the day and others
With a smile

I'm assertive with others
I'm not afraid to express my feelings or voice my opinions
I set and maintain healthy boundaries

At work at my desk, I'm "In the zone"
Ideas, insights and creativity flow
Rarely do I get a headache

I stay in my body and listen to its signals
I remember to breathe, stretch, drink water
I no longer push myself 'til I drop

I am able to admit mistakes
I don't beat myself up
I treat myself with respect

When I do hit a snag, I bounce back quickly
I use grounding, soothing,
And positive self-talk tools consistently

I feel comfortable and pampered in the shower
I look at myself in the mirror and say,
"I love you.  You are beautiful."

"Inner Child Love"

"... I've promised my inner child
that never again will I ever abandon myself
for anything or anyone else again."

~ Wynonna Judd

Child, Let's Fly Away

I love and cherish you
And I know you love me, too
Come now and we will dance and play
And then we'll simply fly away

I can feel your pain
I know they tried to break you
You're helpless, sad, alone
No peace within

I can tell you're tired
I see a child who's tortured
With trying to atone
For unknown sin

Hey, let's fly away
We've struggled with chains too long
Let's grab this chance so we can see
If we are ever to be free

Why wait here in the dark?
All it can ever show you
Is pain and it's the pain
That you still fear

I can see the light
In my heart, faith remains
And I know that this is it
Our chance is here

I love and cherish you
And I know you feel love, too
Now we can dance and run and play
Then we simply fly away

Away, away
Come, let's fly away.

"A Thriver's Beauty Survives"

"There is an abiding beauty
which may be appreciated
by those who will see things
as they are
and who ask for no reward
except to see."

~ Vera Brittain

Your Beauty

I see the beauty you can't see
You're unaware of what it does for me
It's the light shining in your eyes
Lifting me up to brighter skies

Still you walk around
And you hang your head
Sometimes wishing
You were dead

But if you could see
What I see in you
There'd be nothing, love
That you could not do.

"Hope & Positive Thinking"

"It takes but one positive thought
when given a chance to survive and thrive
to overpower an entire army of negative thoughts."

~ Robert H. Schuller

Hope's Song

I love to watch the birds
They fly and flit with constant chatter
It helps me clear these words
In my mind, fear's negative clatter

It gives me hope to hear
Strong-held faith in nature's song
Wipe away my painful tears
I see life it carries on

With the gently falling snow
The naked trees still know to live
It reminds me that I grow
Only when I can forgive.
